Moore Motor Cards
This tool consists of 12 sets of cards developed to target specific motor speech skills. The framework of this tool is based on the concept that vowels impact the trajectory of a movement and the motor demand on a system. For example, if we say "beep" and "bop", although both bilabials CVCs, the vowel directs the trajectory and the motor demand. The word "beep" requires a high jaw position and more lip movement, while "bop" requires jaw excursion and less lip movement. Each deck focuses on a specific motor movement to facilitate motor learning and ease the motor load during acquisition. I have used this concept for over 10 years with great success! Use this tool in conjunction with the principles of motor learning and tactile input for maximal effectiveness!
Decks consist of:
- Basic vertical movements
- Basic horizontal movements
- /s/z/ high jaw
- Integrated horizontal
- Integrated vertical
- Anterior-posterior lingual
- Posterior-anterior lingual
- /s/z/ low jaw
- Mid-back horizontal
- /r/ horizonatal
- /r/ vertical
- Co-contractions/Diphthongs
